What if our adversities in life are for our learning?

I’m talking about the person who stole from you,

The friend who betrayed you

The business partner who acted out of integrity

Even the people in your life that just drive you crazy…

Yup, them, too.

All of that…

Each a lesson, a gift, given to us by God so that

We can become a better human.

You might be scrunching your face right now, and

thinking, “Wait a minute!

My ex that cheated on me was a ‘gift’?”

What if it was?

Lifting to a 30,000 ft view in your mind,

Helps to remove you from the emotional attachment to the situation,

Now, looking from this distance:

What did you learn about yourself during that time?

Here’s the thing,

If life was always rosy,

We wouldn’t appreciate the beautiful relationships

Or our many blessings that we do have.

Seeing the gifts in the struggles helps us

  • To forgive easier and move on
  • To build our character. Use for your good even that which may have been intended for bad.
  • To gain emotional agility; Practice being in control of how we REACT which puts us in more control of how we ACT.

If you have a journaling practice, this is an excellent topic to pen about.  It’s even ok to begin writing in honest emotion, write about the anger, disappointment or heartbreak, then move to answer the phrase, “ I am grateful that…”.

See where that takes you!
