It’s changed again.
My new home has a tier of gardens cascading from the front porch.
Designed years ago by a master gardener (we were told).
Truthfully, I am still not sure
just what enables a person to be called a Master Gardener,
But I have incredible appreciation
now that we have been here for 5 months;

As the weeks pass, and the season changes
I have watched as one blooming plant fades,
Within a day or two,
Another plant will burst forth with color
Even now, as the days are shorter, and the cooler temps are moving in
The show goes on …

This morning the holly berries seemed to take center stage.
The bright red fruits stealing the spotlight from the fading Esperanza.
Like a visual orchestra,
With each shrub and flower having it’s solo.

It’s absolutely brilliant.
Here’s the thing that came to me …
Isn’t God our master gardener?
Maybe there’s a part of your life right now that is fading,
A piece of your identity that is changing.

What if instead of mourning our losses
We look toward the next thing to celebrate?
What will bloom next for you?

If you don’t know, that’s just fine.
That’s what faith is for.
Look with excited expectation of something wonderful.

I have never been face to face with my home’s gardener
Yet, I have faith that in the next season my tiered garden will
Surprise me with more beauty.
It was masterfully designed.

So were you.
