What is your cause?

What is the thing that just gets your heart and prompts you to make a difference?

There are three things people attribute to keeping them happy worldwide:

  1. Nature
  2. Gratitude
    and
  3. Meaning.

Having meaning in our work and life is something that some experts say can even help us to live longer.   It seems, that sense of contribution can do amazing things for us as we do things to help others!

Sometimes the problems look so daunting, such a large scale, we may think we couldn’t make a difference anyway.

What could one person do?

I want to encourage you that one person can make a difference.  I had the pleasure of meeting a woman this past week that did just that.  Ginger Kathrens is an Emmy winning producer of documentary films, specifically a series of them about the wild horses of America, including the famous wild stallion that she named Cloud.  At a private home, she spoke about the fact that she was sent to film the horses. She admitted she new very little about them.  It was after she was introduced to the crisis that threatens our wild horses that she felt prompted to start the Cloud Foundation. (www.Cloudfoundation.org)

Her non-profit organization serves as an advocate for the wild horses and burros that have been the target of dangerous human management practices and are threatened with extinction.  She is now working directly with government agencies to save these amazing animals, especially those herds with historical significance.

She had no idea her film making adventure would lead her to create a movement of this proportion, but she felt the calling and stepped into it.

As for you…

Maybe you aren’t ready to start your own organization, or maybe you already have, but every bit helps if there is a cause that is dear to your heart.   All it takes is action.  So what action are you taking?  What is your cause that drives you to make the world a better place?

Please give a shout out to the organization (or cause, if you have not yet found an organization to support) here and feel free to share direct links.  If you are feeling like I am, that it’s a good time to step it up a notch, and you are looking for an organization, perhaps this post will inspire you.

We can make a difference. Let’s do this!
